Round Review

Bittersweet podium secures Mikko the runner-up championship spot

In the World Championship, it was an incredibly short race for Faster Than Speed as the anti-stall system kicked in on Norbert Leitner's car at the start. Patrick De Wit was unable to avoid the car of his team-mate, who was replacing Marcel van der Linden. The collision left both FTS cars out before the first corner of the race.

In the Ace division, after a fantastic Qualifying in which he secured 3rd on the grid, Norbert Leitner had a strong feature race, running in 5th place and in the battle for the last podium spot when an off in Degner ended his chances with one and a half laps to go. He was eventually classified in 10th place. Guillermo Prieto and Giuseppe Marconi had to retire.
In the sprint race, Norbert Leitner finished down in 13th place after having to pit for repairs, and will take little consolation from having set the fastest lap of the race. Giuseppe Marconi finished right behind in 14th. Guillermo Prieto unfortunately retired early in the race.

In the Pro division, while a minor off-track excursion at Spoon corner cost him the chance to undercut Brzezinski for the lead and have a shot at winning the race, Mikko Suokas had another very strong race at Suzuka. Running in P2 before his stop, Mikko fell to 4th after the issue, before making a pass on Brewer to take 3rd at the finish!
The result was Mikko's fifth podium finish of the season and it allowed him to seal the drivers' championship runner-up spot! FTS has also secured 3rd place on the team standings.
